Knight Journalism Fellows Named at Stanford

KNPR Producer Jon Christensen Accepts Fellowship

Twelve U.S. journalists have been awarded John S. Knight Fellowships at Stanford University for the 2002-03 academic year. KNPR contributing producer Jon Christensen is among those receiving the prestigious fellowships.

In addition to being a reporter, editor and freelance writer, Christensen is producer and reporter for KNPR's Nevada Variations, an audio portrait of Nevada. Over the course of 17 months the series explores the history, literature, arts and current events of each county in Nevada. Production and broadcast of the series will continue during Christensen's participation in the Knight fellowship.

During their stay at Stanford, the Knight Fellows will pursue independent courses of study and participate in special seminars. The 2002-03 program marks the 37th year that Stanford has offered fellowships for professional journalists. Financial support for the U.S. fellows comes primarily from an endowment provided by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
