Teach For America
1785 East Sahara Avenue, Suite 460
Las Vegas, Nevada 89104

Our mission is to enlist our nation's most promising future leaders in the movement to eliminate educational inequality.

By building a corps of our country' most promising future leaders who commit two years to teach in low-income communities, Teach For America has critical short-term and long-term impacts in the Las Vegas Valley. During their two-year commitment, corps members go above and beyond traditional expectations to ensure that more students growing up today have the educational opportunities they deserve. Over the long term, Teach For America has an impact on two levels: 1) we build a unique pipeline of leadership for education and social reform by changing the career paths of our alumni, the majority of whom remain in education or in related efforts in low-income communities; and 2) we influence national priorities and the prevailing ideology by acting as a catalyst for alumni leaders who assume positions of influence in all sectors and who have the rare perspective and commitment that comes from their teaching experience.

Teach For America - Las Vegas Valley began placing outstanding leaders in Clark County schools in 2004. During the 2008-2009 school year, we have 94 teachers reaching more than 5,000 students across our community and working tirelessly to ensure that each and every student receives an excellent education.

In addition to our current teaching corps, we also have 100 local alumni who are working to impact systemic change as long term educators and school leaders.
