Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
5542 S. Fort Apache Rd., Suite 120
Las Vegas, NV 89148

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International (JDRF) is the worldwide leader in funding research to cure type 1 diabetes, an autoimmune disease that strikes children and adults suddenly and lasts a lifetime. JDRF sets the global agenda for diabetes research and is the largest charitable funder and advocate for diabetes science worldwide.

JDRF's mission has been constant since it was founded four decades ago: to find a cure for type 1 diabetes and its complications through the support of research. Until a cure is found, JDRF is also committed to working tirelessly to develop new and better treatments to improve the lives of people who have type 1 diabetes and keep them as healthy as possible.

JDRF was founded in 1970 by parents of children with type 1 diabetes. Today, volunteers at JDRF's more than 100 locations worldwide remain the driving force behind the Foundation's success in advancing research toward a cure. JDRF's volunteers have a passionate and unrelenting commitment to the JDRF mission. The Nevada Chapter is always thrilled to receive support from the community.

Here are some of JDRF's unique programs that have come directly from volunteers and been implemented through our unique volunteer-staff partnership:

Fundraising Events:
Walk to Cure Diabetes - Fall
Rock the Walk - Fall
Hope Gala - Spring

Community Outreach:
Our Outreach Program provides health and social service programs and activities within Southern Nevada for individuals afflicted with type 1 diabetes. These programs also provide meaningful social, emotional, and practical support forums to meet the needs of the greater Southern Nevada community. In turn, these activities will introduce new families to JDRF in order to further its mission to find a cure for diabetes. By adding these families to our growing JDRF family, we can offer them ongoing information about treatment advances and the latest in research while providing them with materials regarding local fundraisers.

You Can Help by Volunteering

Volunteers are an invaluable asset to the success of our events as well as to our larger research funding goals. By donating our time and energy, volunteers allow JDRF to contribute more dollars to its ongoing research efforts.

Volunteers come from diverse backgrounds, bringing a wide range of skill sets to JDRF. We have Moms and Dads who organize Walk teams, Grandmothers who spearhead letter writing campaigns, Accountants who help manage money during events, individuals who stuff envelopes for an afternoon in the JDRF office and many, many more who just want to help in any way they can.
