Services
The Stock Market Game
Student teams, in grades 4-12, receive a virtual $100,000 to invest online in stocks, bonds, and mutual funds, during a fall or spring game session. Student trades take place in real time, just like the actual stock market. In addition to the portfolio competition, students can also enter individually in the InvestWrite Essay Contest; InvestWrite focuses on long-term investment decisions. The SMG curriculum has been correlated to Nevada state standards in four core academic subjects for grades 4-12. Teachers are offered no-cost training sessions on how to use this activity in the classroom and access to lesson plans that compliment existing curriculum. At the completion of the workshop, each teacher receives a copy of Math Behind the Market.
Nevada High School Business Plan Competition
To encourage budding entrepreneurs in grades 9-12, the Nevada Business Plan Competition offers students from across the state the chance to develop a proposal for a new business in Nevada. The business plans are graded by volunteers and scored with a pre-set rubric. Finalists present their plans at the Nevada Entrepreneurship Conference in the spring followed by private interviews with the judges. The winners of this competition win various prizes.
