The Spring Mountains National Recreation Area, also known as Mt. Charleston, offers opportunities for year-round fun including hiking, camping, and picnicking, as well as snow-based activities in the winter. When you visit, join an interpretive hike with a naturalist to learn about the plants and animals unique to the Spring Mountains, attend a campfire program to learn how the mountains were formed, or trek through the snow on a guided snowshoe hike.

You Can Help by Volunteering

Trail Host
Hike the trails of the Spring Mountains and teach others about this spectacular ecosystem.

Promote safety and forest protection. Monitor and report trail conditions.

Visitor Center Host
Provide trip planning assistance to visitors while encouraging safety and forest protection. Promote learning about the mountains flora and fauna.

Climate Station Monitor
Visit remote weather stations to maintain equipment and download data. Manage online data system. Off road enthusiasts needed!

Snow Host
During the winter season, greet visitors and help them have a fun snow play experience while promoting safety and forest protection.

Education Volunteers
Assist with education programs to interpret the natural and cultural resources in the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area. Programs include day and night interpretive hikes and other education programs.
