Readers polled, their obscure answers examined
by Scott Dickensheets | posted January 14, 2014
In an online readers’ poll for February’s upcoming Best of the City issue, we harnessed the awesome power of the Internet to ask you about the valley’s best burgers, best sushi, the best thing about Henderson (it wasn't the sushi) and so forth. And we tossed in a bonus question: The Best! Thing! Ever! In Las Vegas. Because who doesn't want to know that? These are the results we're concerning ourselves with here.
Now, ever is a pretty long time, but many of you rose to that challenge, nominating stalwart features such as the Strip, our groovy weather, all the great dining and the arts scene downtown. Hard to quibble with those selections (more about those in the issue itself). A few of you, on the other hand, offered more … inscrutable suggestions. Below, in handy chart form, we note a few of these offbeat answers and try to parse the mind-set from which they emerged.
Note: Yeah, we know “horn hi yo” is some kind of obscure craps reference. Still sounds like randomly generated syllables to us.
Look for more orthodox survey results in the February Desert Companion, coming out soonish.
