CityCenter to be focus of upcoming documentary. Or maybe "expose-umentary"
by Andrew Kiraly | posted April 15, 2011
Liberal commentator and upstart filmmaker Flavia Colgan wants to complete a movie titled "Cost of Construction." It's about construction. Actually, it's about people falling, crashing, crunching and otherwise sustaining all kinds of sometimes death-inducing ouches during construction. The Vegas rut-roh angle: She wants to focus on CityCenter in her big ask for Kickstarter bucks: Cost of Construction's in-depth look at the issues surrounding the CityCenter project has implications that reach beyond the construction industry. At its core, this is a story about the complexity of corporate and personal responsibility during an era of massive government deregulation. The construction fatalities at CityCenter were not isolated events. From the recent wave of deadly crane accidents in New York City to the devastating oil spill in the Gulf, it is clear that our national safety system is in crisis.
