AIR DATE: May 3, 2013

Gilbert Hernandez is known for his long running "Love and Rockets" comic book series, but his new book is a semi-autobiographical depiction of life as a ten-year-old kid in the 1960's. Gilbert Hernandez joins us to talk about his new book "Marble Season."

Re: Comic books with your guest Gilbert Hernandez. Here in Las Vegas there is a comic book store called Maximum Comics, they have three locations. The owner is Jay, he is a wonderful guy who reaches out to the younger comic book reader. Please look at his web site.... and his Facebook page.... We met Jay before he bought the store he was working in. He literally taught my now 17 year old son Rob the history of comics and led him into the joy of the current Marvel and DC comics. Every Wed. we would go to the store and pick up our "Pull" as it is called. You would very much enjoy a conversation with Jay. He is a celebrity in his world. Now with three stores he is evolved in many activities, book signings, movie night, comic cons, game night, etc. He recently went to an elementary school and had a great time with a class of kids.. So I think there are still kids who are reading comic books. Denise Davis
