Big events like Burning Man and Electric Daisy Carnival could soon be subject to new taxes. Yesterday, State Assembly Speaker Marilyn Kirkpatrick revealed some details of her plan to change the state's live entertainment tax. What could that mean for businesses and big events? Jon Ralston joins us to talk about the speaker's plan.
I find it curious (and disgusting) that the *types* and *rates* of taxes do nothing but continually escalate, as, somehow, not that long ago, we managed to survive increasing population by using the proportionate increase in taxes that that population growth created. The math of never ending new and higher taxes produces an exponentially increasing amount of money per person collected by big government. What can it possibly be needed for? To waste on crap? To spend inefficiently? To over-pay for goods, services, and employees?Tom Hurst –May 9, 2013 11:34:34 AM
