A Death In Cirque's Ka
A Death In Cirque's Ka

Listen
AIR DATE: July 1, 2013

A performer in Cirque du Soliel's Ka died this weekend after a fall from the stage. It's the first time a performer has died as a result of a stage accident in the 30-year-old company, but it follows several onstage injuries in Cirque shows. So are the productions too dangerous for Cirque performers? And what does it mean for the future of the company?

    COMMENTS:
We knew Sarah. She started a kids fitness class called CirqueFit. My daughter took several classes from her including a trapeeze class. We got to see Ka a couple times and got to go backstage after. I was amazed at the obvious high level of safety they employed. I hope there is a follow up once any investigation is complete. Nets, mats, cables, communication...it's hard to imagine how it resulted in her death.
