The community of Elko is struggling with an increase in crime related to rising rates of substance abuse. And the substance that is increeasingly appearing in these cases is meth. The amount of meth-related evidence seized by the Elko Police Department has increased by a factor of four since 2010, according to a series of stories published this summer in the Elko Daily Free Press. We'll talk to a reporter on that series, a sociologist and the chief of the Elko Police Department to find out where the drugs are coming from, and why they are spreading in this community.
