Sen. Reid In The Middle
Sen. Reid In The Middle

Listen
AIR DATE: December 3, 2013

Sen. Harry Reid has become a successful legislator because he is able to talk to many interests and unite them. Right now, however, he's caught between two competing forces. The White House wants him to stymie any new sanctions on Iran to allow its diplomacy to work while supporters of Israel, including many Democrats, want tougher sanctions immediately because they believe the Obama Administration has been too soft on Israel. So how does Reid manage to stay balanced with these competing pressures? What will he do to keep faith with both the president and senators critical to keeping his majority functioning? And what kind of personality does it take to succeed in that role?
