Keeping It Legal At Burning Man
Keeping It Legal At Burning Man

Listen
AIR DATE: February 3, 2014

How should law enforcement officers from Pershing County police the counter-cultural event Burning Man? The county and the organization that runs Burning Man reached an agreement in October, but a judge failed to ratify it, calling it "illegal and unenforceable." The judge cited concerns about nudity and child welfare at the event, but participants say that removing either element would change the nature of Burning Man. So can the county and Burning Man continue to coexist in harmony? Or should the event move to private property?

GUESTS

Jim Shirley, District Attorney, Pershing County

Raymond Allen, government and legal affairs manager, Black Rock City LLC
