Las Vegas architecture often seems to be a series of reproductions and fakes – the Eiffel Tower and the Piazza San Marco on one side of the Strip or the glass pyramid and brightly colored castle towers on the other side. But away from the casino corridor, Las Vegas does examples of its own historic architecture.

One of the architects who contributed to that mid-century modern style was Paul Revere Williams. He designed the lobby for the La Concha Motel. That building was rescued and moved to the Neon Museum where it is now the museum’s visitor center.

Dr. Leslie Luebbers is heading up the Paul William Project based in Memphis. She will be in Las Vegas tomorrow to give a lecture on Williams work.
