A Nevada Composer Creates Global Choirs
A Nevada Composer Creates Global Choirs

AIR DATE: February 19, 2014

Eric Whitacre grew up in Northern Nevada, a pop-music loving member of the Douglas County High School band. But when he started college at UNLV and joined the choir, a new world of classical music opened up to him. Whitacre began studying conducting and composition, and eventually enrolled at the Julliard School. He is known for his choral compositions and virtual choirs, which harness the internet to blend voices from across the globe. We'll talk to him about his musical journey, and how Nevada still figures in to his classical compositions.
