Photographer Lucas Fogila Captures The Mining Boom in the American West

Listen
AIR DATE: March 10, 2014

But there are also reminders of another economic engine -- mining pits that leave deep scars in the earth, and transform the familiar landscape into an otherworldly place. In the West, agriculture and mining increasingly coexist. So how do you make a living off the land if your neighbor is digging it up? Photographer Lucas Foglia examines these issues in his latest book of photos, Frontcountry.
