NV State Legislature: 75th (2009) Session Bill Information
Bills that passed the deadline:
SB116: Allows police to stop a motorist for failing to buckle up
SB136: Bans text messaging while driving
SB202: Raise the sales tax in Clark County starting in July 2011 to hire more police officers
SB207: Outlaws discrimination against gays and lesbians in places of public accommodations
SB283: Would give same-sex couples who enter domestic partnerships the same benefits as married couples
SB372: Would ease the terms of the 2006 Nevada Clean Indoor Air Act
AJR6: Calls for annual legislative sessions instead of the current every-other-year sessions
AJR7: Would repeal the provision in Nevada's constitution that prohibit state lotteries
AJR1: Would prohibit demonstrations within 300 feet of funerals or memorial services
AB162: Would require certain insurance plans to cover treatments and therapies for autism
AB190: Asks that an auditor calculate the costs of a death penalty case against a life sentence
AB233: Would boost penalties for thieves who steal copper wiring then peddle it on the street or to recycling firms
AB433: Would require UMC to operate an out-patient cancer center, but does not provide any money to do so
AB495: Would remove a $350,000 limit on non-economic damages (pain and suffering) in medical malpractice cases
AB504: Would allow cameras at stoplights to take pictures of cars to enforce insurance and registration laws
Bills that did not make it:
SB359: Would require local governments in Clark County to work together to establish a corridor for a fixed guideway
SB368: Would have added a 12-cent-per-gallon tax on diesel fuel
SB369: Would impose a $5 tax on sex acts by prostitutes
AB300: Would allow motorcyclists 21 or older with at least 1 year of riding experience to not wear helmets
AB524: Would have created a 19-mile "demonstration project" of toll lanes along sections of US 95 and Interstate 15 in Las Vegas
