Latino Voters and Nevada's Gubernatorial Race

Listen
AIR DATE: February 22, 2010

Hispanic voters in Nevada are mostly Democrats. But does that mean they'll fall in line with their party's candidate? We explore how candidates will reach out and try to swing the Hispanic vote their way in the upcoming gubernatorial election. And we look at whether party alliance trumps personal view on issues like immigration, jobs and health care.

Guests Include:
Ken Fernandez, political science professor at UNLV;
Vicenta Montoya, immigration lawyer and Democratic activist;
Fernando Romero, political organizer, a Democrat who organized Hispanics for McCain in 2008; and,
Matthew Barreto, associate professor of political science at the University of Washington he also runs the polling firm Latino Decisions which tracks Latino voting trends.
