Perhaps streamlining of the non-traditional schooling would help cut some costs. I understand there are online classes through the district, Brigham Young university online classes, summer school, early bird classes. I am not sure all these different version really produce the results for the cost.

I believe that schools need to return to 9 month schools it creates a burden for parents and with the expense of year round.

As a member of taxpayer payroll, how do you honestly feel knowing that your salary is $66,500 more than that of the Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court? As a taxpayer in Clark County, I, personally, am uncomfortable with this. Before you answer, please consider the fact that the cost of living in Clark County is significantly less than that of the DC Metro area, and the Chief Justice's position affects case law and precedence used in courts nationwide, while your responsibility is as Superintendent of a school district that has yet to meet AYP and has a graduation rate barely over 50%. I understand that your salary is contracted, and that the Trustees are just as responsible for this, but with that large of a pay difference, the district could afford to keep a teacher or a handful of part-time support staff if your pay were more commensurate for your position and responsibilities. While asking school district employees to tighten their belts and think of creative cost-saving measures, why not reopen your contract and scale your pay back to that of the Chief Justice? With a $500 a month car allowance that also includes maintenance, you have one of the largest personal expenses outside of housing and healthcare nicely covered by your contract. Or is reopening your contract to reduce your salary out of the question because you think that you have earned your salary and shouldn't have to give any of that up, despite many other public workers having to face furloughs, premium increases, and other forms of pay reduction?

Do you plan to cut any upper management positions at the school district? It seems the school district has the policy of allowing an employee to retire and then they(the district) rehires them as a "consultant." I would think that a new employee could be hired at a more cost effective salary than to allow all the "double dipping" within the system?
