Furtive Movement
Furtive Movement

Listen
AIR DATE: July 1, 2010

Earlier this month, police broke into Trevon Cole's apartment and shot him in the head. He died at the scene, while his pregnant fiance hid in the closet. Police claim Trevon made a "furtive movement." But what qualifies as a "furtive movement?" Trevon Cole's fiance and her lawyer join us to tell what happened that night. Plus, a criminology professor tells us about similar cases.

To the comment below about Racism and Immigration: You're a bigot. "Whites" have nothing against immigration, just ILLEGAL and UNDOCUMENTED immigration. Spanish bloodlines are WHITE (See: Map of Europe), they just speak a different language. Mexicans are of Spanish and Aztec decent; Aztecs may be native, but Spanish is NOT. We dislike most French because they are prejudiced against Americans. Many "Blacks" are EXTREMELY racist against White people, fyi. I've never heard of racism against native Hawaiians. All we ask is you learn to speak the OFFICIAL language of the country and come here LEGALLY. Go check your FACTS and come back.

To officer Garrett Vandereecken cudos for giving your full name i guess is was wrong but U couldnt even pass a lie detector test. one question? have u ever seen or heard of a fellow police officer breaking the LAW , violating his oath ,of office, (to protect and defend the constitution). or lie on the witness stand, and then failed to report them? a police report is not a sworn (key word) affidavit , it is called a declaraion police are taught to bend, manipulate , destort the facts (truth) in police academy 1. prima facia evidense the O J trial.

if u want to know about police integrity ask Mark Ferman, who lied under oath in front of the whole country. a felony , perjury. did he get prosecuted for that no. why? the f b i or justice dept need to do a through investigation, of crime scene. and show it on tvs florencic files , or the tv show best evidence. but this will never happen,

lets not forget the sham jury system a trial by jury is not the same as a jury trial. but a lawyer could nt tell u the difference. DNA has freed more people from death row than Lincoln, all had a jury of 12 mostly white anglo saxon males, who live the white anglo saxon dream, because that is what this country is only for white anglo saxons. not indians , blacks , hawawians, eskamos , filapinos , pueto Ricans, mexicans, spanish , french, who are all more indiginous to the land than they are. than the white immigrant. that is why now they dont want any immirgants.

    TO OFFICER GARRETT

-THE POLICE DECLINED TO GIVE THEIR SIDE
-THE WITNESS WHO HAD FIRST HAND KNOWLEDGE GAVE HER FACTUAL TESTIMONY NEVER SAID POLICE SHOWED HER A ALLEGED WARRANT and REFUSED TO TELL her ANYTHING ANYTHING THE POLICE DID AFTER THAT (NO PROBABLE CAUSE) IS A CRIMINAL ACT ON THE PART OF THE POLICE. THEY ARE ACTING IN THEIR PRIVATE CAPCITY , NOT OFFICAL.

-THIS IS WHY LIE DETECTOR TESTS ARE INADMISSIBLE THERE ISNT A POLICE OFFICER, OR LAWYER , JUDGE , COURT REPORTER, WHO COULD PASS ONE. ( i have first hand knowledge ) these police officers will never take a lie detector test in there life time. ( independent tester ) -the problem police police them selves no checks and balances. ( again no independent impartial , oversite )

the injustice system is the same as
    the sham coroners inquest,
    the sham grand jury
    the sham public pretender
the sham impartial trier of fact (the judge , who will rush u to judgment ( not a speedy trial never) prosecute u from the bench, don't even need a so-called prosecutor)

why do we need to pay for justice, money cant buy justice, money can only buy injustice.

police will never tell u their name not even when u get a ticket try and read their name and never their first name, only on tv.

what r they afraid of . i have asked them they flat out refuse and ignore u

    justice should be free,

did not state the police officers had a warrant if had a warrant would have said so while breaking down the door

    she never mention it

-the warrant argument is suspect at best

-and love to see the information on the alleged warrant

-lady caller "police don't want to work with any body other than another police officer th

-they need to change hiring practices for police starting with psychological test no doubt hewy have a large percentage of police are sociopaths and even psychopaths

    suffer from severe inferiority complexes

and have a desire to physical abuse someone

-i was arrested by police woman who arrested me because when she asked me for my social security number i told her my license is sufficient and it is against the LAW to ask for my social security number ( title 42 USC ) and is not to be used for identification total abuse of power nt authority

-which was it shots fired or serving warrant

this is not the first officer who had multiple murders

3 the police work for the judges and the police , insurance companies and are agent provocateurs not pu police they r the criminal

    Dear Madam/Sir,

I just listened to your "Furtive Movement" topic and have to say, would it be possible to at least get the facts straight on what happened before you debate it... "Police broke in the apartment???" I am a police officer with Metro and I'm absolutely disgusted with the way the media distorts the fact on everything they do.

With this shooting, I'VE FINALLY HAD IT.

-as a man who has lived in Las Vegas
    since 1949, I'VE HAD IT!
-as a white man I'VE HAD IT!
-as a former drug counselor I'VE HAD IT!
-as a former drug user I'VE HAD IT!
-as a Las Vegas resident who has watched Metro shoot people for 20 years = and never have a "bad apple" I'VE HAD IT!
-as a booster of Las Enforcement I'VE HAD IT!

It's time we cleaned up Metro's tendency to whitewash their bad officer's conduct.
It's time we had Law Enforcement we can Trust.

    WilliamJun 28, 2010 10:35:26 AM
It is very sad and repulsing for Las Vegas metro are allowed to be prejudice gangster cowards with badges they kill innocent people most of the time and want to justify it by using police terminology such as furtive movement what about they're movement? Some of those narcotic officers are drug users and abusers themselves could it be that this 34 year old narcotics officer grew into a trigger happy punk because he has gotten away with it before? Of course there going to look out and protect each other especially the monster they created in baby boy yant!

Our hearts and prayers go out to his family and his fiance and newborn child for Treyvon's tragedy. One can only hope that through time they can heal and keep his memory alive for his child.

There is no doubt that there are prejudices in our society towards black people and too much stereotyping of these young black males. They are victimized too.

    Thank you.

This is the only place I have ever lived where I fear the police more than the criminals. The post-incident inquiry process seems very thin and prejudiced always in favor of the police.
They even shot and killed the ice cream lady!

    Lori BlainJun 28, 2010 08:29:05 AM
The Las Vegas law enforcement community is not beholden to the silly rules of human rights and the endless amount of time and cost it takes to prosecute criminals. It may be true that the force was excessive - but was the reduction of a criminal worth it? This is a town that is truly owned by the police and if you get sideways with these guys you are going down. Just like all other excessive force incidents, this too will be rules "justifiable". Those in the community who disagree with this policy are on notice - police do what they want - and that's the way most in the community like it.
