The National Finals Rodeo is in Las Vegas featuring contestants in eight events. But perhaps the premier event is bull riding. In the early 90s the sport of professional bull riding broke away from rodeos to create its own circuit. In the world of bull riding it's not only the riders who have big personalities but the animals themselves have risen to superstar status. And the relationship between man and bull has become a mix of fear and respect. Author Craig Childs' 2009 piece "The Rise of the Minotaur" in High Country News details the world of Professional Bull Riding. We talk with Craig Childs.
