Photographer Jamey Stillings decided to take a road trip across the country and photograph iconic landmarks. He just happened to make his way over Hoover Dam in March 2009 when he came across the half built bypass bridge which he had no idea was being built. After seeing the bridge he knew there was something significant about it so he decided to start photographing it. More than a year later he has documented the bridge from almost every angle. Jamey says what's interesting is the meeting of nature and man. We'll talk with Jamey Stillings about his photo documentation of the building of the Hooover Dam bridge.

What an amazing project! Great interview! As for the comment about not seeing anything while you drive over the bridge . . . really? It was designed first and foremost as a road and the PEDESTRIAN walkway was designed for viewing . . . why would anyone not keep safety in mind while designing the road?? I can't believe I am actually responding to this but it was designed like that on purpose. If you could see something as you drove over the bridge most likely you would have a million people driving over it and slowing down and possibly drifting because they are distracted with the view. . . You are right, that is exactly what we need on a highway 1000' in the air above a river, a bunch of captivated and distracted drivers going 50+MPH with pedestrians only a few feet away. WOW. If you want to see the view go on the walkway - it is beyond words how amazing the view is from there. Plus the view of the bridge from the Hoover Dam is bar none. I was lucky enough to go out on the bridge walkway recently and it is truly amazing. Kudos to ALL of the engineers and workers that spent so much time devoted to this project - truly amazing and every one of you should be proud.

It's great to see photos of the bridge, and of the Dam behind it. Unfortunately you can't see a single thing while driving over the bridge itself. Incredibly disapointing.
