LISTEN TO M3U |
"u r my sweet sona." If that looks like a teen's text message, you're right... only these texts are being swapped among exiled Tibetan teens living in India. UNLV professor Heidi Swank has been studying their text-swapping culture, and how it changes interpersonal relationships. Why are these texts now spreading to Mexico and beyond? And for a peace-loving culture like Tibet's, why are the texts so sexually explicit? Heidi Swank decodes the language of Tibetan teens living in exile with cell phones.
