With all the committee hearings in Carson City and Las Vegas, the Legislature has been leading the way on budgeting and taxation issues in recent weeks. But if the Legislature won't approve Gov. Brian Sandoval's budget, it will still have to persuade him that its plan is better - or it will be vetoed. We talk with Gov. Brian Sandoval's Chief of Staff Heidi Gansert to see what the governor thinks about the Legislature's suggestions.

Since your guest said she was a legislator, maybe she could comment on the 45 additional loopholes for mining that the Governor's ex-law firm Jones Vargas got from the Nevada Tax Commission... such as accounting, advertising, bonus, cash award, severance packages, sales and use tax, travel, leases and rentals, management fees, medical costs. This decreases the tax payments that could go to schools or the general fund. "111 times over ten years, one Nevada gold mine or another claimed that gold produced at that mine had no taxable value." Hugh Jackson, journalist and researcher Time to look at the mining industry instead of hiding. Wake up guys.

Will the governor now consider supporting a contitutional ammendment to tax the mining industry at a higher percentage given that the industry has made record profits off of the price of gold and silver?
