Last August West Career and Technical Academy opened with 750 students in grades 9 and 10. The school was the last magnet high school planned from a 1998 bond issue. And it focuses on engineering, health and environmental subjects. Six students join us to tell us about their school.

    COMMENTS:
FYI for Luis and Dawn Wells: Dawn mentioned going to Sulufoa island, an artificial (man-made) island in the Solomons. You both might be interested in my short story, "American Model," set in Honiara and Sulufoa. I've added a drawing of the island on the web version of there story. See the link on the homepage of my website, http://www.terrymarshallfiction.com. (My wife and I lived for three years on Guadalcanal in the Solomons where we directed Peace Corps programs for the Solomons, Kiribati, and Tuvalu.
