AIR DATE: April 26, 2011

PBS documentary series, "American Experience" has made a new documentary looking at the Freedom Riders - the civil rights protesters who challenged Jim Crow laws. The Freedom Riders faced violence, resistance and racism as they tried to make a statement against inequality. After several burnings of “Freedom Rider” buses, riots and mobs, the Interstate Commerce Commission issued its order to end segregation in bus and rail stations on September 22, 1961. Original Freedom Rider and now Congressman John Lewis will host a preview of the documentary at the Mirage Hotel-Casino at 4pm on April 29.
