Photographer, Warren Bates snapped photos of desert landscapes at night and used abandoned buildings, vehicles and old signs as a way to highlight the places people usually passed by. Warren Bates took his own life in April 2010 and now a gallery in his honor is on display at the Left of Center Gallery in North Las Vegas. Bate's sister Susana organized the exhibit and will donate proceeds from the sale of photographs to suicide awareness. We talk with Susana Bates about her brothers work and how living through a family suicide takes its toll.

COMMENTS:
Long live to the memory of a man that was an artist and who I got the pleasure to meet personally. What he did with his life was a sad choice but this unfortunate fact can happen and happens everyday to everyone. What we have to learn from this tragedy is what Susana Bates correctly highlights as to focus our efforts to promote suicide prevention in our society and this is a real legacy to the memory of Warren Bates.

Warren Bates was a gentle man who became confused because of stress and disappointment. Killing himself violently was a toll on all who met him and knew him. We miss him.
