Time is rapidly running out for the Nevada Legislature. And the end is even closer if the lawmakers have to override a veto by Gov. Brian Sandoval. If a deal is not done by this week, the governor can simply run out the clock and the legislators will be at his mercy as to when any special session will be called and what the agenda will be for that session. So we'll look at what the likely shape of the state budget and the redistricting and other big initiatives will be at the end of the 2011 session.

It never ceases to amaze me how often Anjeanette Damon is willing to let Republicans off the hook. It is clear to anyone paying attention that the Republicans are unwilling to compromise for one reason only: redistricting. Republicans hold all the cards, and are using those cards to get better districts. All Republicans in this legislative session are already running either for the US House or for CC Commission.
