Are We Naturally Optimistic
Are We Naturally Optimistic

Listen
AIR DATE: June 14, 2011

Tali Sharot thinks the world is wearing rose-colored glasses.  The neuroscientist has been studying memory, and noticed people tend to remember the past - and foresee their future - in a bright, positive light.  Are we naturally optimists?  And in this recession, in a state with the highest unemployment and foreclosure rates, why do we still look on the sunny side of the street?  Tali Sharot and locals weigh in on the power of optimism.

We want to hear from you: what makes you optimistic?  Do we see the world through a sunnier lens?  Should we?  Is it better to be realistic?  What do you tell yourself to get through tough times?

GUESTS
Curt Hubbard, auctioneer
Princess Anne, artist and realtor
King Ibu, musician
