Las Vegas has recently been added to the top 10 cities for organized retail crime, according to a recent survey from the National Retail Federation. The report outlined that of the 129 local retailers surveyed, nearly 95% said they’ve been a victim of organized retail crime in the past 12 months.

Stores lose $15-30 billion to theft every year. The industry has invested billions of dollars in technology and security equipment to prevent theft but the losses continue.

Why is this happening in Las Vegas? Is organized retail crime caused by the recession? How does this affect consumers and shoppers? Or is organized retail crime not a priority for law enforcement agencies?
