How Should We Compensate Those Wrongfully Imprisoned
How Should We Compensate Those Wrongfully Imprisoned

Listen
AIR DATE: August 8, 2011

Last week, Dwayne Johnson won a $1.5 million settlement from the Metro Police Department.  Due to a DNA lab error, Johnson had spent over 4 years in prison for a robbery he didn't commit.  Now, officials are considering whether Nevada should have set guidelines for how much the wrongfully convicted should be compensated.  Is $1.5 million enough for four years of your life?  How should these guidelines be determined?  And should Nevada have pre-set amounts, or be able to determine the amount depending on the situation?

GUEST
Larry Brown, Clark County Commissioner and Metro Police Fiscal Affairs Committee member
Richard Schonfeld, attorney of Dwayne Jackson, Chesnoff & Schonfeld
Steve Saloom, policy director, The Innocence Project
