Recall Election in Pahrump
Recall Election in Pahrump

Listen
AIR DATE: August 10, 2011

The race is on to get the 3,643 signatures needed to start the recall process on Nye County assessor Shirley Matson. No one has alleged that Matson has messed up on the property tax valuations. It all started when Matson used her work email to send demands to the sheriff’s office to check the immigration status of construction workers building the new county jail. Matson was reprimanded by county commissioners in March for conduct unbecoming a public official. Matson is unrepentant and is fighting the recall drive.

COMMENTS:
This unprofessional injurious attitude from this public employee has nothing to do with legal or illegal immigration debate, but it does show very clear an attitude full of hate towards latinos in general, therefore such irrational act from Mrs. Matzon fit well to be in the category of hate crime, she should be arrested and prosecuted as such because she poses a threat to our community.
