Blinded Veterans

Listen
AIR DATE: August 16, 2011

When a grenade exploded in the Korean War, Neftali Sanchez lost both hands and his sight.  He was 19.  When he returned home, he said he faced two choices: "be angry, or accept reality and see what I could do with it."  He chose to accept his situation, and since then, he's become a reverend and been the national chaplain for the Blinded Veterans Association for the past 32 years.  Reverend Sanchez and other blinded vets talk about their wartime injuries and how they adjusted to life without their eyes.  The Blinded Veterans Association holds its national convention Aug. 16-20 at the Golden Nugget Hotel.

GUESTS
Reverend Neftali Sanchez, former National Chaplain, Blinded Veterans Association
Roy Kekahuna, Pres, Blinded Veterans Association
