Nevada Supreme Court May Weigh in on Redistricting

Listen
AIR DATE: October 13, 2011

Nevada Secretary of State, Ross Miller has filed two requests from the Nevada Supreme Court asking justices to intervene in the redistricting process. Nevada lawmakers failed to agree on new maps for congressional and legislative seats and the matter is now being decided by a district court. District Court Judge, James Russell who is overseeing the matter has appointed three "special masters" to handle the task.

Now, Secretary of State, Ross Miller is requesting that the Court issue a limited stay which would prohibit the Special Masters from beginning to draw redistricting maps. Meanwhile the "special masters" held the first of two meetings for public comment. We discuss the latest twists in Nevada's redistricting saga.
