Reading with Rover
Reading with Rover

AIR DATE: October 18, 2011

From Go Dog Go to Clifford the Big Red Dog, children's books about dogs have always been a big hit.  But what if you added a real dog into the mix?  The Henderson Public Libraries are encouraging kids to read aloud to a furry friend who sits beside them.  The 12-year program uses therapy dogs to create a friendly environment and inspire kids to read.  We visit with the coodinator, a young reader, and a tail-wagging dog to get the ABCs on the "Reading with Rover" program.
Florica Hagerdorn, Coordinator, Reading with Rover, Henderson Public Libraries
Nathalia Diaz, second grader, Reading with Rover
Donna Achrem, literary coach and Jordan's owner, Reading with Rover
Jordan, therapy dog (English Springer Spaniel)
