Marklen Kennedy on 'Gigolos' and Vegas Reality TV

AIR DATE: January 27, 2012

Marklen Kennedy has had many jobs: college football player, ordained minister, Hollywood doorman, and Vegas nightclub party planner.  But his latest job may be his most exciting role yet.  He produces Vegas-based reality TV.  Showtime’s “Gigolos” was his brain child.  He’s recently been casting for “Trailer Park Housewives.”  Marklen Kennedy talks to us about finding the perfect cast members, and why reality is way more delicious than fiction.

I guess this segment and the following Marion Write one are attempts to broaden K/NPR's audience. Then again BBC TV3 recently started a reality show about UK table dancers (aka nude strippers) K/NPR I can appreciate that you have bills to pay but in a media world sinking into the lowbrow, K/NPR & PBS are perhaps the last bastions of high brow. If you become like everyone else, why should we support you? Was this a shot across the bow? Send more money or more low brow will follow? BTW I know people who live in trailer parks. As for male escorts, if they are, they haven't taken me into their confidence.

Mr. Kennedy seems to have found new ways to show entertaining sides of Las Vegas. I have read that he has many additional reality type shows that will attract attention to Las Vegas and it's unique life styles.
Congrats Mr Kennedy
