Another great segment. Finally someone in the media reports that "Zappos is not a high tech company but a company that uses high tech." Is this the first time? Does it take an "outsider" to report this? Does Mrs. Mayor Goodman understand the distinction? I believe Marketplace interviewed some UNLV students yesterday. I forget if they addressed what UNLV can do to increase the number of hard tech people in Vegas. We need an anchor university!

It's great to hear Marketplace's perspectives on 'Vegas. We don't often get to hear detailed outside perspectives. I was born in LV ~55 years ago and been here my whole life. It has always struck me that the fundamental philosophical points the town is based on are: 1; People cannot estimate risks as well as they think they can, and 2. People cannot resist temptation as well as they think they can. I spent much of my professional life trying to find ways to want to understand LV as well as they do the towns they left to move here.KNPR & Marketplace - Keep up the great work!
