Mary Warner and Her Flowering Art

AIR DATE: March 7, 2012
LISTEN TO M3U | DOWNLOAD MP3

Mary Warner paints flowers.  But unlike Georgia O'Keefe's work, her flowers are reminiscent of antique wallpaper and the beautiful textile designs of the British Arts and Crafts Movement of the late 1800s.  Mary Warner tells us what inspires her art, and how she weaves flowering nature into her work, even in the Las Vegas desert.  Her display runs through March 31 at the Trifecta Gallery.

COMMENTS:
Thank you for posting this interview. I was researching my watercolor professor, Mary Warner, from my days at the university of Montana when I came across this and her beautiful watercolors. It was wonderful to hear her voice and hear about her inspiration, which hasn't changed since the fall of 1978 and summer of 79. I remember exactly this and do regret that I did not continue my studies with her. I do feel, however, how intensely she influenced me in my art. It appears that she is coming full circle with her return to Sacramento and I will continue to follow her career and wish her the best?
