The Smith Center is open. But what does it mean for local performers and artists? Will they play a role? Or will Smith Center be largely an all-purpose shed for out-of-town acts? Can smaller arts companies and galleries survive? Or will the Smith Center boost interest in the arts? Rekindle some of the better days in the arts community because of the boom?
