Jed Distler: Playing Thelonious Monk in Two Hours

AIR DATE: April 2, 2012
LISTEN TO M3U | DOWNLOAD MP3

Jed Distler likes the piano.  He also likes a challenge.  The pianist decided he would condense all of Thelonious Monk's music into a single performance: a two-hour pianothon, to honor the 30th anniversary of the pianist's death.  Jed tells us about his creative process, thinking outside the box, and why people think Monk's music is so inaccessible.

Jed Distler performs on Sunday, April 8, at the Winchester Cultural Center at 2 p.m.
