Hi Panidad, I actually have an Umbrella Cockatoo who I trim his nails myself when they get too long. I've heard that certain perches are recommended to keep the birds nails trim, but have also heard that they should be avoided. Nonetheless, many vets that deal with exotics or birds in general can clip a birds nails with clippers or I've even seen dremels used, but if you are comfortable cutting them yourself, and your bird trusts you, it is quite easily done. There are many youtube videos and online articles on the subject of avian nail trimming, so you might want to research them! From personal exprerience, I know that when you do trim the tip of the nail, you want to be careful not to clip too far into the nail, less the bird experience pain and bleeding. Depending on the size of the nail, you can use standard nail clippers. I would also recommend a few other things like wiping the clippers with alcohol (before and after) and possibly using a companion to help hold and calm the bird (a lot of times they will get scared and try to bite). Goodluck!
PS: If you love your bird and can afford it, try for at least a yearly checkup on him! its usually under $150
