Former UNR basketball coach Len Stevens thinks that school sports programs detract from the real reason kids go to school - to get an education. He will describe his plan to eliminate high school sports programs and replace them with extra-curricular clubs.

I agree with the guest for two reasons: Kids must try out for school sports and many do not make the team so our tax dollars are paying for a select few to play. In recereational sports, there are teams for players of all skill levels.
Also, I prefer my tax dollars be spent on education including PE classes that promote health and well-being for all.Nancy –May 24, 2012 10:43:35 AM
Sports participation in schools is an important element of the health and wellness of this nation. Mr. Stevens argument is unidimensional and one-sided. I am disappointed that you allowed him to ramble on about his extremest point of view without someone to present the other side.Sue Right –May 24, 2012 10:06:16 AM
