Here in Las Vegas, the lights are always on.  The Strip blazes and burns with neon and LEDs - it's like we're a town that never sleeps.  But what happens when all those lights drown out the darkness?  What happens when people don't get to see the stars because of all the light pollution?  How does that change how we see ourself in the world, or how we even appreciate nature?  So how do we reaquaint ourselves with the dark?  Environmental author Paul Bogard talks about his love of darkness, and the secrets you unlock when you turn off the lights.

Paul Bogard is in Reno for the Great Basin Astronomy Festival through Saturday, June 16.  He is the keynote speaker, and talks at 8 p.m. at the Lehman Caves Visitor Center.
