The economies in Metropolitan areas in the Mountain West region are recovering at a good pace but unemployment still remains high in Las Vegas and across the entire state of Nevada. That's according to a new report from Brookings Mountain West at UNLV. Is Nevada keeping up with the region? And what needs to be done to keep pace with our neighbors in places like Arizona, Colorado and Utah? We discuss the latest Brookings Mountain Monitor report and the latest on Nevada's economic activity.

Four quick questions: 1. Do we have too little healthcare for our insured population? In other words, how much of our limited healthcare capacity is simply due to our large number of uninsured? 2. Do the proposed changes in higher ed funding look promising, in terms of the overall contribution to our future growth and/or diversity? 3. How do we better take advantage of our mining? Currently we get wages and minimal taxes. What else could we incorporate in Nevada? 4. Does the funding for I-15 in the latest transportation bill increase Las Vegas' potential as an inland port?
