Krave nightclub is moving downtown, and that's not all - club owner Kelly Murphy is trying to build "the largest gay nightclub in the U.S." Will clientele leave the strip to follow the night spot downtown?  And will the giant multiplex that Murphy envisions help Las Vegas become a more popular destination for gay tourists?

GUESTS

Brian Paco Alvarez, local writer and downtown resident
Mya Reyes, independent marketing professional focused on gay tourism

    COMMENTS:
The finite number of GLBT locals, coupled with the downtown location & its size may spell failure for Krave Massive. Tourism may keep people coming, but repeat customers are a businesss bread & butter. Krave has never been successful at supporting the local GLBT community. The overhead at a club of this size will be incredible, & with that will come gigantic cover charges & outrageous drink prices. Locals wont go to a place that doesnt support them or prices them out at the door.

I think that huge difference between all the redevelopment of downtown versus the strip is how downtown feels like it's been created FOR the locals. I live close to downtown and I love it. I've been to Drink and Drag many times and I'm excited to see a more accepting and diverse downtown.
