Nevada is set to get presidential visitations - lots of them. In fact, the president and his opponents will be visiting Nevada quite a few times over the next two months. So what do you want hear them say? What do they need to know about our state our community? The County Commission is thinking about renaming the airport. And CJ, the chimp, has finally left town. What should we do about exotic animals living in Las Vegas?

    COMMENTS:
Las Vegas City Councilman Steve Ross has proposed changing the name of McCarran International Airport. Change it to what? I suggest Rat Pack International Airport. It is historically accurate, it has instant name association, it accurately characterizes the city, and it makes people laugh. What more can be asked from a name?

Enough with the two- to three-year election cycles. Damage to society: (1) Sucks up all the legislative and executive oxygen in the country that should be used for governing society instead of substantiating ongoing job security for politicians. (2) Directs the candidates' minds on issues facing the nation now. (Amorphous sloganeering is not helpful.) (3) Puts a needed bullet through excessive campaign financing. We need to reduce the election cycle to four months for Prez and two months for congressmen. Every civilized country in the world does it. We, on the other hand, have turned public office into getting elected next time.

Brenda M. Flank in her closing remarks talked about freedom being her primary concern and seemed to me implied that Pres Obama was the main threat to those freedoms. I wonder if she was as vocal When Pres W Bush passed all the laws, rules and regulations which really trod on freedom in what I think was an over reaction to the admittedly terrible tragedy of 9-11.

    Hear, hear, Roger.

Her hatred of President Obama was readily apparent in her inability to even refer to him by name. She repeatedly referred to him as "the current occupant of the White House" or words to that effect. Therefore, her positions were not credible because they were too clouded by hostility, even if her reasoning had been plausible, which it had not.

I would encourage Ms. Flank to do her homework. She makes statements that she does not -- and possibly can not -- support. Having the facts -- especially for someone in her position -- is essential for having an informed, productive discussion. So far, she has added little to helping us Nevadans understand the conservative point of view.

And she responds to requests for facts with only opinion and thinly veiled hatred for President Obama.

If you MUST rename the airport name it after Steve Wynn. Call it 'Wynn in Vegas'!

    Awesome! Love it!

Wynn Vegas International Airport? Great idea, BTW.

    Agreed.
