Just over 8.5 billion recyclable cans were sold in California last year. Almost as many were redeemed for a nickle under California's recycling law. Government officials think the state's recycling program has led to rampant fraud - with Nevada residents partially to blame. Since Nevada doesn't have a redemption law, people are taking truckloads of cans across the border to redeem them in California. But the state is now cracking down on the fraud.

My roommate keeps calling the company to pick up our recycling, but they rarely do. Sometimes it gets left out. Someone is taking it, but not the recycling company. Maybe they are taking it to California. Amanda –Oct 24, 2012 10:17:22 AM
