When Stravinsky's "The Rite of Spring" debuted in Paris in 1913, ballet goers were outraged by the performance -  they booed and laughed so loud, the music was barely audible. Tonight at The Smith Center, four months shy of the ballet's 100 year anniversary, the famed Chicago-based Joffrey Ballet performs "The Rite of Spring." We'll talk with the artistic director of Joffrey Ballet and one of the company’s dancers about their performance.

COMMENTS:
100 years later I was outraged! Being a former professional dancer myself, I was angered and sad by "The Rite Of Spring". Two minutes into this piece I wanted to get up from the Smith Center and leave. I can't understand for the life of me why this piece was performed. Other guest were as disappointed as I was. A true let down to the previous beautiful work of the performers. I was embarrassed they had to dance to that!!!!!!
