Martin Luther King's birthday became a national celebration in the 1980s and it is now common to say that civil rights for African-Americans have been secured. Harvard Law and History Professor Tomiko Nagin-Brown is not so sure. Her study of Atlanta's experience shows that the struggle for and achievement of civil rights was much more complicated than we typically think. She'll be lecturing on those issues in the Pro Lecture on Legal History at UNLV.
