How Safe Is The Las Vegas Strip?

AIR DATE: February 26, 2013
LISTEN TO M3U | DOWNLOAD MP3

Last Thursday's shooting and car crash on the Las Vegas Strip was horrific, but it also raises questions about whether it was an isolated incident. In recent years, there have been some spectacular acts of violence - shootings on the casino floor at New York, New York, a murder-suicide at Excalibur, a bombing in a car park. What accounts for these incidents or are they truly random? And can casinos and public officials do more to improve the safety?

    COMMENTS:
Am a cab driver since 2007 . Am not feal safe still now b/c we don't have protection in a cab plus we don't have the right to refuse a ride when we see something suspeshus.this shooting is not first time . My question why people need a gun in lv Streep .

Metro recently began hiring Reserve Police Officers who are community volunteers. Perhaps more of these Reserve Police Officers should be used to patrol the strip. Also you may want to change the uniform of strip officers to blue instead of brown. Have all strip officers wear blue uniforms for visibility.

MORE CHECKPOINTS??? What about state law and civil rights? No thanks. I carry my gun wherever I go. I drive to and from work with it in my car. I walk around with it. It's an open carry state. I drive on the strip, freeways, and every other road I want with it. Checkpoints is not a solution since my gun is not a violation of the law.
